How to earn as a writer on Fiverr

Being a writer in a country where most of the employers don’t even know the difference between CONTENT WRITING AND COPYWRITING, where amateurs writers are paid peanuts, where writing isn’t considered a profitable career, takes a lot of heart.

When I had decided to pursue a career in writing, I had no idea in what cruel world I’m stepping into. Literally, there were companies that wanted me to write 3k words daily for $120/month.

Honestly, such people have no idea what writing is. They don’t understand the fact that writing is a gifted talent, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s not like if you can’t be anything then you can be a writer at least.

Anyways, fast forward, I bumped into freelancers and a few of them were writers. Upon asking them my questions regarding the scope of writing in my country, I realized that the best way to make money as a writer is freelancing.

Now, it’s been nine months since I’m working on Fiver. Over the course of these nine months, I have realized that if you want to earn on Fiver, mastering a skill comes next to mastering the art of keeping your gigs on the first page, or at least in the first five pages if your niche is a competitive one — like Article writing or Copywriting.

So how do you create an SEO Optimized gig on Fiverr?

Let me show it to you step by step:

Select Your Niche

Of course, you are a writer, that’s why you are reading this blog post. But can you get a job by simply claiming to be a writer who is a jack of all trades?

First of all, decide whether you are an article writer, blog post writer or Copywriter.

If you are experienced enough in all niches, it’s still recommended to create separate gigs for each.

Like separate gigs for Website copywriting, article writing, product descriptions, etc.

Choose Low Competition keywords

This is where I made a mistake when I was new on Fiver.

I had no idea how keyword research is conducted on Fiver.

Like literally, I was putting high competition keywords ( like article writing, content writing, copywriting) in my gig’s title.

It’s impossible for a new seller to get ranked on keywords already having 25,000+ gigs.

To choose low competition keywords, simply go to the fiver search bar as a buyer and put your main keyword after “_” sign and space. It’ll show you all the keywords people are searching.

Also, you can enter the main keyword in the search bar and press enter. At the top of your page, Fiverr will show you more relevant keywords that you can use in your description and tags.

Make sure you only choose the ones that are relevant to your services because they can be irrelevant at times.

Gig Creation

Believe me, this is a great trick if you want to get your gig ranked as a new seller.

Once you have gathered all the low-competition keywords, put 3–4 (the ones having lowest competition) in your gig’s title.

While writing a description, make sure you use at least 4–5 keywords one time each.

Also, add at least 3 FAQs and use keywords in them too.

Make your custom gig images using Canvas and rename them on your keywords.

Put all three images in gig’s gallery section and make them as attractive as possible.

Update your portfolio in the form of a pdf file.

Save your gig and publish it.

Once your gig is published, now edit your title and make it a sensible one.

What we wanted to do is incorporate as many keywords as we can in your gig’s URL, and it’s done. Now, even if you change your gig’s title ( which is not recommended unless your gig is not getting impressions), your gig’s URL won’t change.

A Tip

I don’t understand why everybody wants to be an article writer or blog post writer when you can earn the same amount by doing less work.

I mean, most of the newbies on Fiver charge around $10 for 500-word article. While you can charge the same amount for giving someone a catchy book title or business names, slogans, and headlines.

Play it sensibly.

Work on niches which require less work and earn you the same amount.
